CREATE HIGHLY DETAILED REALISTIC 3D MODELS USING SIMPLY SONY XPERIA SMARTPHONE

3D Creator is a smartphone app that can turn any object, even human, into a 3D model just by moving the phone around. Instead of the dual lens system or a depth sensor, the app uses one camera lens. Unlike other 3D scanning apps that use cloud service to process data, Sony does all processing on the smartphone.

The app detects the light changes as the phone moves to determine depth. Ready 3D models can then be 3D printed or turned into videos to share on social media.

Such 3D scanning process requires a powerful processor, therefore, it will be available only Sony's latest smartphones.

While this technology is currently used for entertainment, we hope to see it's further implementations in the field of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.
